Published on March 24, 2026

CALGARY, ALTA.—Trimac Vice President Controller Shantel Lockett has been named as a Women In Trucking Association’s (WIT) 2026 Top Woman to Watch in Transportation in recognition of her leadership, industry impact and commitment to advancing women in trucking.

The annual list, compiled by the editorial team at Redefining the Road, WIT’s official magazine, highlights women who have demonstrated significant professional achievements over the past 18 months and who embody the association’s mission to support and promote women working in the trucking industry.

Lockett was selected for her leadership in a traditionally male‑dominated field and for her track record of driving operational excellence at Trimac. She oversees financial reporting, corporate tax, internal controls and enterprise-wide accounting operations, strengthening the company’s financial integrity and advancing automation and process improvement.

“Following the status quo isn’t the only path forward. Why not aim high, inspire others and challenge what’s possible?” Lockett said. “It’s an honour to be named one of WIT’s Top Women to Watch, and I believe that continuous learning and stretching beyond comfort zones are essential to growth—and to redefining what leadership looks like for women.”

Known for building and empowering high-performing teams, Lockett fosters a culture of trust, accountability and discipline that supports long-term, sustainable growth. Her focus on implementing automation to reduce manual processes has enabled her teams to dedicate more time to strategic, value-added work.

In addition to her role, Lockett serves as Chair of Trimac’s Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Belonging Council. Since its relaunch in September 2024, she has helped lead discussion forums, training sessions and webinars on topics including mental health and the importance of belonging in the workplace.

She also mentors emerging leaders, supports women’s professional development and creates opportunities for advancement across her department. Beyond Trimac, she has shared her insights as a panelist at the International Women’s Day Panel Discussion: #AccelerateAction, where she gave industry leaders insights on how women can overcome self-doubt and navigate their careers with confidence and resilience.

“Shantel is a fierce champion of women everywhere she goes,” said Trimac’s  Chief Financial Officer, Chad Gareau. “She worked hard to get to where she is today, and she truly believes it’s her duty to help women in the industry climb the corporate ladder. She encourages those around her to learn, challenge themselves and break barriers.”

Lockett and the other 2026 honourees will be featured in the spring edition of Redefining the Road and recognized at WIT’s 2026 Accelerate! Conference & Expo, taking place Oct. 25–28 in Dallas, Texas.
