Trimac Transportation is pleased to announce the acquisition of Searcy Trucking, a premier open deck and heavy haul carrier based in Winnipeg, Man., effective July 31, 2025. This acquisition strengthens Trimac’s strategic position in flat deck, LTL and specialized services across Western Canada and the U.S. Midwest.
Founded in 1969, Searcy Trucking has grown into one of the largest open deck carriers in the region. Their fleet of more than 120 trucks and 170 trailers supports industries including construction, agriculture and industrial manufacturing. In addition to transportation, Searcy offers transloading, warehousing and distribution through its Universal Reload division.

“Searcy Trucking has built a strong reputation in the market and we are excited to welcome them into the Trimac family,” said Matt Faure, President and CEO of Trimac. “Searcy’s reputation for safe operations, integrity and specialized expertise aligns with our core values: Live Safety, Do the Right Thing and Rise to the Challenge. By combining strengths, we are creating even more value for customers and expanding what is possible for our teams across North America.”

Searcy brings a number of specialized capabilities to Trimac. Their Universal Reload division, based in Winnipeg, provides transloading and warehousing services with 20,000 square feet of indoor storage and direct rail access. They also operate a logistics division offering transportation management and both heated and dry storage options. Searcy owns one of the largest private fleets of Removable Goose Neck trailers in Western Canada, including up to 9-axle configurations that allow them to handle oversized, complex freight. The company has received multiple industry safety awards and maintains top-tier safety ratings from both Canadian and U.S. regulators.

The company will retain the Searcy Trucking name and continue operations from its locations in Winnipeg and Altona, Man. The leadership team will remain in place to ensure continuity for employees, customers and partners.

“For more than 50 years, our team at Searcy has built something we’re proud of. Strong relationships, a reputation for quality and a culture where people matter,” said Norm Blagden, President, Searcy Trucking. “Becoming part of Trimac allows us to carry that legacy forward with a partner who respects where we’ve come from and shares a vision for where we’re going. This is the right next step for our employees, our customers and the future of specialized transportation.”

This acquisition follows Trimac’s recent purchase of Watt & Stewart and continues the company’s focus on building a leading platform in flat deck and heavy haul services, supported by a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
