CALGARY, ALTA.—Trimac Transportation is pleased to announce the acquisition of California Freight. Headquartered in Ripon, Calif., California Freight is one of California’s largest multi-faceted food-grade bulk logistics providers, operating eight trucking terminals, a warehousing terminal and brokerage facility across California and Nevada. California Freight will continue to operate under its own name as part of the Trimac Family of Companies.
“California Freight has built an exceptional reputation in the heart of California’s agricultural and dairy economy, and we’re excited to welcome them into the Trimac Family of Companies,” said Matt Faure, President and CEO of Trimac. “With three decades of specialized expertise, their capabilities in food-grade transportation, warehousing and brokerage align directly with Trimac’s long-term growth strategy.”
Founded in 1989, California Freight has grown from a regional brokerage into a fully integrated transportation and logistics company supporting food and agricultural industries within the U.S.
“California Freight has been dedicated to reliable service in the food and beverage and dairy sectors for a long time,” said David Sanders, California Freight VP and Founder. “Joining Trimac means our team and customers will be provided with even greater resources to serve those who have trusted us for decades.”
The company’s brokerage arm serves multiple customers across the U.S., with many long-standing relationships extending more than 20 years. The company expanded in 2012 with the addition of a transportation division that now operates a large, diversified fleet of tractors and tankers, moving raw milk to processing facilities across California’s dairy supply chain while also serving the wine, food and beverage, and agricultural sectors.
California Freight’s warehousing network spans more than 400,000 square feet of food-grade storage across the San Joaquin Valley and Stanislaus County. These commodities are also core to Trimac’s service offering, reinforcing the strategic fit and enabling both companies to deliver enhanced value to customers across North America.
“Our mission has always been to serve our customers safely, efficiently and effectively through a culture of ownership, stewardship, continuous improvement and operational excellence,” said Jim Aartman, California Freight VP. “This partnership gives us a stronger platform to keep doing exactly that.”
As part of the acquisition, Trimac executive Jesse Hanson joins California Freight as President, working alongside the existing California Freight leadership team as the two organizations move forward together, ensuring continuity of service and the operational excellence that California Freight customers have come to expect.
California Freight’s strong family values have made it a versatile reliable multi-modal transportation service provider, reflecting the same commitment to service and excellence that has long defined Trimac. These shared values form a strong foundation for long-term success for both teams moving forward.
