Trimac is proud to uphold founding values that have helped the Canadian-based company become North America’s safest and most efficient bulk carrier.

Founded as MACCAM Transport in 1945 in Moose Jaw, Sask., Jack McCaig launched the company with a single Model A Ford truck. In the 1950s, Jack’s sons, J.R. “Bud,” Roger and Maurice, joined the business and helped to expand operations across Western Canada. Following the acquisition of H.M. Trimble & Sons, in the 1960s, the company became known as Trimac and relocated its headquarters to Calgary, Alta. Over the decades, a public listing, entry into the U.S. market and a series of strategic acquisitions transformed Trimac into one of North America’s largest bulk carriers. In 2000, the McCaig family returned Trimac to private ownership.

“For 80 years, we’ve safely delivered products that improve people’s lives,” said Matt Faure, President and CEO. “What makes us most proud is the way we’ve done it, by investing in our people, innovating with purpose and never compromising on safety or service.”

Today, Trimac operates with more than 4,000 team members and independent contractors, running a fleet of over 6,000 tractors and trailers across its North American network. The company has earned repeated recognition for safety, workplace culture and people practices, including such honours as Top Fleet Employer of Distinction, Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation, Innovative HR Teams and Training and Development Excellence.

Most recently, Trimac was named the 2024 North American Safety Champion by the National Tank Truck Carriers, recognizing it as the safest tank truck carrier on the continent.

“Our history is a story of resilience, relationship and respect,” said Jeff McCaig, Chair of the Board and member of Trimac’s founding family. “While the industry has changed dramatically since 1945, one thing has bever wavered: our people are our greatest strength.”

To commemorate the anniversary, Trimac has unveiled a special 80th-anniversary logo symbolizing history, values and vision for the future. The design features the number “80” encircled by a road motif symbolizing continuous movement, progress and innovation. Three distinct lines within the design pay tribute to Trimac’s founders—J.R. “Bud,” Roger and Maurice McCaig—whose vision laid the foundation for the company’s success.

Trimac celebrated its milestone at Heritage Park in Calgary, Alta., on Aug. 28, 2025. Festivities will continue throughout September, with regional service centres across North America hosting employee appreciation events.

["post-6631","news-releases","type-news-releases","status-publish","hentry
["GET
